One of my favorite books growing up, I was always fascinated by the map and it’s relation to the story. I decided to try to bring that into this cover by keeping the entire thing hand drawn, something you certainly don’t see today, and using map elements to create a sort of badge.

When tackling The Grapes of Wrath, it being a social realist novel, I decided to air on the semi-comical side depicting a raisin. Since a grape that has been writhed quite literally is a raisin. Compiled with a collage of newspaper articles during the great depression of the 1930’s.
